The Technical/Support Services Division, under the command of Captain Alan Hardcastle encompasses several organizational functions within the department. This Division consists of one Lieutenant, one Sergeant, one Officer, one Records Clerk, one Municipal Court Clerk, and eleven Public Safety Dispatchers. A brief description of each function is described below.
Captain Alan Hardcastle
Communications: Eleven Public Safety Dispatchers are employed by the City of Brentwood, which comprise the city's Emergency Communications District. City Manager, Kirk Bednar, is the Emergency Communications Director. Personnel supervision is the responsibility of Lieutenant Kristin King.
Training: Captain Alan Hardcastle is the Brentwood Police Department Training Coordinator and Firearms Range Master. The Brentwood Police Department places a high emphasis on training. The Training Coordinator is responsible for the development of training courses, scheduling of training classes, and documentation of the training attended by all personnel, and the annual session of the Citizen’s Police Academy. The Training Coordinator ensures that training meets the requirements of the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission.
Recruitment: The Technical/Support Services Captain is responsible for coordinating the department’s recruitment efforts with the City’s Human Resources Department in seeking qualified applicants for the Police Department.
Public Information: The Technical/Support Services Captain is designated as the department’s Public Information Officer. The responsibilities of this assignment include the release of information on incidents that occur within the department’s jurisdiction to the press and generally serve as a liaison with the public and the press.
Property and Evidence: Lieutenant King is the designated Property and Evidence Custodian. The responsibilities of this assignment include the intake, proper storage, ensuring chain of custody, submittal of evidence to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory, and disposal of all property/evidence. Officer Bill Reape serves as the Property and Evidence Technician.
Technology: W. Greenewalt coordinates all police related technology and is the liaison with the City's IT Department personnel to ensure our department is equipped with the latest computer equipment and software.
Accreditation: Chief Jeff Hughes is designated as the agency Accreditation Manager. This assignment has the responsibility of managing the department’s accreditation program and is the department’s liaison with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
D.A.R.E./Community Relations: Officer Mark Wood and Officer Sam Bady serve as the agency D.A.R.E. Instructors. These Officers also serve as the primary contacts for Community Relation events, including Crime Prevention and Neighborhood Watch. Officer Mark Wood and Officer Sam Bady are certified in CPTED.
Records: W. Greenewalt serves as the Records Agency Coordinator. Angie Ellis serves as the Records Clerk.
Municipal Court: Kayla Head is the Municipal Court Clerk.
