WHAT IS RECYCLING?
RECYCLING is the means of separating, collecting, processing, marketing, and ultimately re-using a material that would have been thrown away.
WHY RECYCLE?
RECYCLING helps to conserve our natural resources and protects our health and the environment by reducing our dependence on landfills and incinerators.
WHAT RECYCLING SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?
For your convenience, there are several recycling facilities located throughout Williamson County. Recycling Convenience Centers are staffed and have scheduled operating hours. These facilities collect a variety of materials, including plastic bottles and containers, glass jars and bottles, paper, cardboard, metal tins and aluminium cans.

| Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronics Recycling
Williamson County residents can drop off batteries, oil, paint, anti-freeze and electronics at the Franklin Solid Waste Transfer Station located at 417 Century Court (Map). The transfer station will accept residential waste Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Commercial waste is not be accepted. For more information, please click here.
The batteries category includes all batteries, including rechargeable and automotive. Paint should be in original containers. The electronics category includes computers (desktop and laptops), monitors (CRTs and flat screens), telephones, cell phones, fax machines, printers, copiers, televisions, residential medical equipment, stereo equipment, video games, PDAs and all cables. Computer hard drives should be cleaned of any personal information.
Each Spring, Williamson County and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste and Computer Recycling Collection Day where other forms of household hazardous waste such as chemicals, acids, etc. are collected.
