The City of Brentwood administers water and sanitary sewer services to properties within the City limits and the surrounding area. The City is dedicated to meeting the needs of customers and strives to relay information and service through timely and accurate billings. Billing occurs on a monthly basis. Water and sewer customers are billed on the 21st of the month and are due on the 7th of the next month. Sewer only customers are billed on the 6th of the month and are due on the 20th of the same month.

  • In person at the Municipal Center, 5211 Maryland Way, Brentwood. Map.
  • By mail (see address above).
  • Online by Credit Card or Electronic Check (E-check). The following cards are accepted - VISA/MasterCard/American Express/Discover.  Electronic payments are accepted by VitalChek a 3rd party payment processor (convenience fee will apply).  The City receives payment confirmation the following business day.
    • View bill and pay online (Account ID # is required.)
      (Note: If an error page is displayed while using Internet Explorer, you may need to change the browser's compatibility settings by selecting Tools - Compatibility View Settings - Add)
  • By Phone - (615) 507-2766. (convenience fee of $3.95 will apply.)
  • Automatic bank draft. This requires a completed Bank Draft application and copy of voided check.
  • Drop box located to the right of the Municipal Center, next to the Post Office boxes.

A fee of $25.00 will be added to each returned item.

Rates

Water
$11.62 – 1st 2,000 gallons of water usage.
$4.07 – per 1,000 gallons for the next 8,000 gallons of water usage.
$4.65 – per 1,000 gallons over 10,000 gallons of water usage.

A purchased water cost surcharge shall be added to the base rate if the cost of water purchased by the City from its primary water provider exceeds $1.71 per 1,000 gallons.  The surcharge shall equal the amount per 1,000 gallons by which the City's cost exceeds $1.71.  Effective with bills due after January 21, 2014, the surcharge shall equal $.84 per 1,000 gallons.  Please click here for more information about the water purchase surcharge.

An average irrigation system (sprinkler) uses 10 gallons of water per minute per zone (sprinkler head).

Sewer
$14.53 – 1st 2,000 gallons of water usage.
$5.09 – per 1,000 gallons for the next 8,000 gallons of water usage.
$5.81 – per 1,000 gallons over 10,000 gallons of water usage.

Effective with bills due after September 21, 2014, the Metro Wastewater Treatment surcharge shall equal $0.91 per 1,000 gallons.  Please click here for more information about the sewer treatment surcharge.

** Winter Water Average - The monthly sewer rate charged by the city is based on each customer's average winter water consumption as billed in the months of December through March using the previous rate schedule. For sewer customers who are not water customers of the city, the computation of average winter water consumption is based upon the four-month period that most closely corresponds to that used for other customers. The established rate per 1,000 gallons above the minimum bill is prorated for each 100 gallons consumed.

Service Area

Within the City of Brentwood, the water and sewer utilities are usually serviced by the City.  In some cases, neighboring utility companies may provide a part or all the service.  Neighboring utility companies include: Harpeth Valley, Mallory Valley, Franklin, Metro, and Nolensville / College Grove Utility Company.  Call the billing department at 615-661-7061 or see below for an interactive service area map.
