ANNUAL ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
SATURDAY, APRIL 6
11:00 a.m.– 1:00 p.m.

THE BRENTWOOD LIBRARY
8109 Concord Road

Arbor Day 2013A tree has been planted at Crockett Park in honor of Hart Applegate, a Tree Board member for many years. Mr. Applegate will conduct tours of the Library Arboretum after the Arbor Day ceremony.

The Arbor Day program will include displays by tree-related vendors, food, children’s activities and guided tours of the Library Arboretum. This is the second year of essay and poster contests. The poster contest features third and sixth graders attending Brentwood area schools. Brentwood High School and Ravenwood High School students are participating in the essay contest. The posters will be exhibited at The Brentwood Library during the month of March, and prizes will be awarded in both the poster and essay categories. Over 2,000 seedlings will be distributed to local schools during the week preceding the event, and to attendees during the event.

During the 11:00 a.m. program, the City will receive the Tree City, USA Award from the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council. This will be Brentwood’s twenty-third year in a row to receive the prestigious national award which recognizes the City’s long-standing commitment to tree planting and conservation.

The City of Brentwood recognizes trees for the beauty and value they lend to our homes, neighborhoods, parks and business areas. We also realize that trees help clean the air and keep the atmosphere in balance. We hope that everyone will take part in this special day for the City.
Event sponsored by the City of Brentwood Tree Board
