Children's Department
The Children’s Department is beautiful. Working here is a joy! Volunteers in the children’s department assist the library staff in sorting and shelving children’s items. Qualifications: Able to arrange items in alphabetical and numerical order; able to push, bend, and lift; attention to detail; able to work independently. This is very physical work and is not recommended for those with back, knee, or neck problems. Time commitment: One 2-hour scheduled shift per week for 4+ months.
Circulation Department
Have you ever wondered which library books are most popular? Shelve the recently returned books and find out! Volunteers in the circulation department assist the library staff in shelving fiction, nonfiction, and audiovisual materials, and shelf-read (make sure our collection is in proper order). They may have the opportunity to help with special projects as needed. Qualifications: Able to arrange items in alphabetical and numerical order; able to push, bend, and lift; attention to detail; able to work independently. This is very physical work and is not recommended for those with back, knee, or neck problems. Time commitment: One 2-hour scheduled shift per week for 4+ months.
Volunteer Office Assistant
See how the library works behind the scenes! Volunteer in the Administration Office. Answer the phone and help with office tasks such as inter-library loan mailings, data entry, making copies, cutting bookmarks, assembling Book Club kits, etc. Time Commitment: One 2-hour scheduled shift per week, for 4+ months.
Special Events Volunteer
Do you want to volunteer occasionally, but you don't want to make a long-term volunteer commitment? No problem! The library often needs a helping hand at special events like the chess tournament, teen programs, children's events, the Easter egg hunt, morning with Santa, and more! If you'd like us to get in touch with you when help is needed for special events, choose this option.
Book Search Volunteer
Do you love to search the library’s shelves? Book search volunteers search the shelves for a list of specific items, collect those items on a cart, and deliver the cart to Circulation staff members. Time Commitment: One 1-hour scheduled shift per week, for 4+ months.
