Dashiell Hammett

Hammett Awards
Rewards excellence in the genre of crime literature, this award is given annually by the North American branch of the International Association of Crime Writers to a U.S. or Canadian author. The award is named for Dashiell Hammett, author of "The Maltese Falcon."
 

Hugo Gernsback

Hugo Awards
The Hugo Award, named in memory of Hugo Gernsback, is also known as the Science Fiction Achievement Award. In general, a Hugo Award is given annually for work which appeared in the previous calendar year. It is sponsored by the World Science Fiction Society, administered by the committee of the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) held that year, and determined by nominations from a popular vote of its membership.

Pulitzer Prize in Literature
Begun in 1917 by newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer, the number of yearly awards have grown from 4 to 21. Included are awards for fiction, drama, history, poetry and general non-fiction. 
 

The Tennessee Association of School Librarians

Volunteer State Book Awards
The Volunteer State Book Award is sponsored annually by the Tennessee Library Association. Each year children are asked to read books from a list of nominated titles. Students who have read or listened to at least three of the titles from the list are eligible to vote for their favorite. The book with the most votes statewide wins the award.
