Concord Road East Project – Concord Road improvements from Sunset Road (inside city limits) to Nolensville Road (outside city limits). The road is being widened to 3 lanes with a separated 10-foot bikeway lane. The City is funding engineering design and right-of-way acquisition. Project management and construction will be done by the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation.
TDOT has awarded a construction contract to Mountain States Contractors. At this time, utility relocation work continues along with storm drain installation, general grading and bridge work at both Owl Creek and Mill Creek. Traffic has been moved to new lanes in a few locations. Motorists can expect occasional, short-term lane closures to allow equipment operate within the construction zone. Construction is expected to be complete around May 2016.

Concord Road Widening from Jones Parkway to Arrowhead Drive - The City has entered into a contract with the TN Department of Transportation (TDOT) for development of a project to widen Concord Road between Jones Parkway and Arrowhead Drive. The road will be widened to 3 lanes with curb and gutter, a separated 10-foot wide bike/pedestrian path running along the south side of the improved road, and a 5-foot wide sidewalk on the north side of the road from Jones Parkway east to Steeplechase Drive. Funding for the project will include $3 million in federal highway funds and approximately $1.2 million in City funding. Right of Way acquisition is complete and is pending approval by TDOT. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin Fall of 2014, subject to final authorization by TDOT.
Franklin Road South - Widening of Franklin Road is proposed from Concord Road to Moore’s Lane. Survey work and engineering design are underway with the city funding engineering. Property appraisals required for right-of-way acquisition are planned to begin in early 2014 with right of way acquisition tentatively planned to be complete by mid-2015. Construction of improvements is subject to future funding commitments from the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation.
I-65 Exit Ramps at Concord Road Exit - The TN Department of Transportation has begun work on a project to widen both the northbound and southbound I-65 exit ramps at Concord Road. When complete, the exit ramps will have dual left turn lanes to go east on Concord Road.
