Projects & Updates
- Water Loss Control Program:
As part of the City’s water loss control program, WSO, Inc., a contractor working on behalf of the City, will be conducting leak detection activities across the water system in the coming months. You may see individuals walking where water lines and service lines are present and may place paint on the ground where leaks are detected. If you have any questions please contact the Water Services Department at 615-371-0080.
Water Station Replacement Projects:
The purpose of this project is to replace and upsize two of the City's water pumping stations. One located along Murray Lane, across the road from the entrance to Windstone Subdivision and the second at the intersection of Murray Lane and Johnson Chapel Road West.
Update (November 06, 2015):
The new Murray Lane station has been installed and is successfully in operation, pumping water to Brentwood residents. The old Murray Lane station was removed and shipped back to the manufacturer to be refurbished which provides for a significant cost savings as opposed to purchasing a new station. The refurbished station has been installed at the intersection of Murray Lane and Johnson Chapel Road. The new station is anticipated to begin operation by the end of September.
Annual Water Line Replacement Project 2015 (currently working in Stonehenge):
The purpose of this project is to replace aging water lines as part of the department's efforts to maintain the integrity of the City's water distribution system. The next phase will include replacement of aging 6 inch plastic pipe with new ductile iron pipe along Prince Phillip Cove, Albert Drive, and Ashby Drive.
Update (November 6, 2015):
The firm of Cunningham Construction is currently working on installing new water pipes along Prince Phillip Cove, Albert Dr. and Ashby Drive. Work on the current phase is anticipated to be completed by mid November. The next phase which includes work along Yorkshire, Regents and Victoria Cv. will then begin and be completed by February, 2016. This will conclude replacement of all water lines in the area.
Water and Sewer Rate Study
On February 9, 2015, the City contracted with Willdan Financial Group to update the utility's long range financial model and rate structure. The study will be done in conjunction with the development of the Master Plan, such that the proposed rates and charges will adequately cover anticipated operating and capital expenditures and distribute those costs equitably between customer classes and new development. The study will also examine the different pricing structures available to the City to encourage water conservation.
