Projects & Updates

  • Water Loss Control Program:
As part of the City’s water loss control program, WSO, Inc., a contractor working on behalf of the City, will be conducting leak detection activities across the water system in the coming months. You may see individuals walking where water lines and service lines are present and may place paint on the ground where leaks are detected. If you have any questions please contact the Water Services Department at 615-371-0080.

  • Water Station Replacement Projects:
The purpose of this project is to replace and upsize two of the City's water pumping stations.  One located along Murray Lane, across the road from the entrance to Windstone Subdivision and the second at the intersection of Murray Lane and Johnson Chapel Road West.

Update (June 30, 2015):
The new Murray Lane station has been installed and is successfully in operation, pumping water to Brentwood residents.  The old station has been removed and shipped back to the manufacturer to be refurbished which provides for a significant cost savings as opposed to purchasing a new station.  The refurbished station will then be installed at the intersection of Murray Lane and Johnson Chapel Rd. West, beginning approximately the week of July 15th.

  • Annual Water Line Replacement Project 2015 (currently working in Stonehenge):
The purpose of this project is to replace aging water lines as part of the department's efforts to maintain the integrity of the City's water distribution system. The next phase will include replacement of aging 6 inch plastic pipe with new ductile iron pipe along Prince Phillip Cove, Albert Drive, and Ashby Drive.

    Update (June, 2015):
Bids were received and publicly opened on April 16th with the firm of Cunningham Construction submitting the lowest bid.  Work on the current phase is anticipated to begin in early July and take approximately 3 months to complete, with start up of the next Phase (Victoria Cove, Yorkshire Drive and Regent Drive) soon thereafter.

  • Water and Sewer Rate Study
On February 9, 2015, the City contracted with Willdan Financial Group to update the utility's long range financial model and rate structure.  The study will be done in conjunction with the development of the Master Plan, such that the proposed rates and charges will adequately cover anticipated operating and capital expenditures and distribute those costs equitably between customer classes and new development.  The study will also examine the different pricing structures available to the City to encourage water conservation.
